Anyone can put a crescent on a label. What matters is whether every stage between the animal and the pouch was supervised, certified and documented — and whether the brand will show you the paperwork without being asked twice.

What our certification actually covers
Halal certification is not one thing. These are the four separate assurances we hold, because any one of them on its own would leave a gap.
Zabihah slaughter
Performed by Muslim slaughtermen. The animal is faced toward the qiblah, the tasmiyah is recited over each animal individually rather than broadcast over a line, a single continuous cut severs the throat, and the animal is fully exsanguinated.
No prohibited stunning method is used under the certification we hold.
Facility segregation
No porcine material enters the processing site at any point — not on our line, not on an adjacent line, not on a different shift. This rules out the majority of the world's collagen supply, which is porcine and processed in shared facilities.
Cleaning agents and processing aids are also certified, because a haram processing aid contaminates a halal input.
Solvent-free hydrolysis
Collagen has to be broken down to be absorbable, and many manufacturers do this with ethanol or chemical solvents. Ours is enzymatic — food-grade enzymes and water only.
This matters for halal status directly, and it's the stage most brands skip over when you ask them about their process.
Standing supervision
The facility is under continuous supervision by the certifying body — not visited once a year and trusted in between. Certification is renewed annually and we republish the current certificate each time it's reissued.
If our certification ever lapsed, we would stop selling before we would sell through the gap.
Why this is genuinely hard
Roughly eighty per cent of the world's collagen and gelatin comes from pigs. It is cheaper, the yield is higher, and the supply is enormous. That single fact is why the halal collagen shelf is nearly empty, and why so many products in it are vague about their origins.
The next tier of the problem is subtler. A brand can source genuinely bovine collagen and still have it processed in a facility that runs porcine on the next line over, or hydrolysed with an ethanol-based solvent, or finished with a processing aid nobody thought to certify. Each of those is a real gap, and each one is invisible from the front of the pouch.
We took the expensive route at every one of those forks. That's most of why this product costs what it costs, and we would rather explain the price than quietly compromise the standard.
If you have to ask us twice for a certificate, we've already failed.

Halal questions
The things people actually ask
Can I see the halal certificate?
Yes, and you shouldn't have to ask. Email us with your batch code — it's stamped on the back seam of the pouch — and we'll send the current certificate for the facility along with the certificate of analysis for your specific batch.
Is bovine collagen halal by default?
No. Bovine only tells you the species. Whether it's halal depends on how the animal was slaughtered, whether the facility handles porcine material, and what was used during hydrolysis and finishing. A product can be entirely bovine and still not be halal.
Which certifying body do you use?
Our processing facility is certified by an accredited Australian halal authority recognised under the national certification framework, and holds standing supervision rather than annual spot audits. The certifying body and certificate number are printed on the certificate itself, which we'll send on request.
What stunning method is used?
No stunning method prohibited under our certification is used. The requirement is that the animal is alive and healthy at the point of the cut, and that the cut itself is the cause of death — that condition is supervised and verified on every shift.
Is the product also gluten-free and dairy-free?
Yes. There is one ingredient in the pouch — hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides — so there's no gluten, no dairy, no soy, no added sugar and no sweetener. It is not vegan, and there is no such thing as vegan collagen; products marketed that way are collagen builders, not collagen.
Can I take it during Ramadan?
Yes, outside fasting hours. Most of our customers take it at suhoor stirred into water or milk, or with dates at iftar. It's unflavoured, so it won't interfere with either.
